12th Annual Evening of Traditional Craft

NORTH BENNET STREET SCHOOL JURIED EXHIBIT OF ALUMNI WORK -- MAY 17, 2011

North Bennet Street School's 12th annual Evening of Traditional Craft will be held in the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts on May 17, 2011. By far, the most anticipated aspect of this annual event is the exhibit of work by NBSS graduates.

The Cyclorama, built to house enormous, life size, panoramic murals, was opened in December 1884. The space features a dazzling copper skylight dome atop a round, brick-lined 23,000-square foot space, the Cyclorama is a stunning open venue and is a wonderful setting for the Annual Evening of Traditional Craft.

SUBMISSIONS
All alumni are encouraged to submit work for the exhibit. In addition to objects (such as books, stringed instruments and jewelry), we exhibit photographs of architectural preservation and carpentry projects and other work that is not transportable.

The Cyclorama is a large space providing the unusual opportunity to exhibit larger pieces or groups of objects such as restored pianos, table and chair sets, etc.

To submit work, complete and return the intent to submit form with images of the piece(s) you wish to submit. The deadline to submit is March 3, 2011.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
The exhibit will be juried by professionals from related fields and participants will be notified by April 9, 2011.

FORMAT AND DELIVERY
Individuals whose work is selected will be sent specific delivery instructions. Makers of furniture and large work should be prepared to move work in and out on the day of the event.

QUESTIONS
Direct questions and send completed forms and images to Laurie Riordan at lriordan@nbss.edu / 617-227-0155x118.
